Artists from across Appalachia are invited to create and submit a personal work of visual art that reflects their vision and experience of Appalachian matriarchy. The application will include space to submit a photo and description of a celebrated matriarch from the artist’s life. All selected works of art will be displayed alongside these photos to juxtapose creative interpretation of Appalachian matriarchy with the lived reality.
